Using a colourful palette with mostly warm tone lights he creates a nostalgic, dreamlike atmosphere like in the movie Amélie (2001). See the light uses a similar colour pallet but is a little more darker to create a dreamy feel since Aria is constantly thinking about finding her passion while also bring out a sense of melancholy. Even though Jeunet is more typically known for romantic dramas like Amélie (2001) and A very long engagement (2004), “See the light” was inspired by his surrealistic elements in his films. The atmosphere created in his works resonates with See the light as the story is told through Aria and her trying to find her passion, making the movie have a whimsical feel.
